It was a little chilly out, Kenta had to admit that. But he had been to the Water Tribes during his lifetime, he could live through the slightly chilly wind breezing across the Northern Air Temple where he was currently staying. He was working with the masters and several other airbenders to master the element, though he was making very little progress and wasn't having very much fun. They were kind of strict, he didn't like sitting and listening to lectures and stories about old people all day. He loved his culture, it was fun and deep and stuff, but sometimes he wanted to do something cool.

Standing on the edge of one of the temples many balconies, he over looked the vast space before him. What beauty! What potential for fun! The eleven year old boy, with his glider strapped to his back, stood on his heels at the very edge of the divider between thousand foot drop and safe, stable land. Leaning forward, he tested the air and bended it until it was so strong, he was being held up at a forty-five degree angle with the balcony. This was thrilling! He enjoyed this feeling so much and was so focused on it that a sound coming from behind him startled him, and he dropped like a stone in water.

There was no panic in Kenta's body, he had been through many falls he could get himself out of. Without hesitation he reached for his glider, but it got stuck on the rope holding it in place. Now was the time to start panicking. Kenta struggled with the glider until the ground became visible hundreds of feet below him. He was so done for! But at the last minute, he slid the glider off of his back, opened it, and caught rough air that yanked him from free fall to free float. With that he directed himself back up to the balcony he had previously been standing on and collapsed on the solid ground, back to the divider he had just fallen off of.

Then he giggled with glee at the feeling still coursing through him.

The cold air blowing through the Northern Air Temple brushed William's hair slightly from his forehead, leaving to be seen more than he had liked of his mysterious eye-patch, something he had wore all of his life yet never been aware why, but it was just like a part of him was been enveloped into darkness. His depth perception was messed up and  he had never been able to fight well because of the fact he couldn't see to his right. So he liked to retreat himself into painting, something he had been doing since he was born.

Now he was sitting on a balcony, his sleek paintbrush held like a pen in his slender arm over the half finished drawing. The canvas showed a young boy, with a glider strapped onto his back, sitting on the edge of a balcony and gazing with his face away from the viewer and towards the sky. Of course, it was just Kenta, a young Airbender, tho older than him with one year. He had managed to sneak up behind him and start painting, even if he didn't really mean sneaking behind him. The paintbrush was dangling from his hand, dripping sky blue paint on the white material he had set onto his lap as he pondered over making some more clouds over the sky or making a shinning sun. He knew that could really affect his painting after all.

But when the boy had leaned out from the safety of the balcony, William's heart had skipped a beat and he had dropped his paintbrush with a loud noise on the floor. It must have startled the boy, because he seemed to lose balance and fall towards the solid ground a few miles underneath. The ten year-old boy shuffled away from his canvas, lightly dropping the white material onto the floor where he had been sitting with his legs crossed, and hurried towards the balcony in his silent way. He bent over to watch the kid fall more and more, but Will didn't even open his mouth to attempt to scream, just watched him with a content look.

He felt a sense of warm relief and of blood rushing again through his veins as the kid raised himself with his glider and handily navigated back towards the balcony. For a moment Will didn't know what to do. He couldn't speak, so he simply ran back at his canvas and lifted the painting he had made of Kenta, returning to show him what he had made.

Y-O-U

His slender hands formed the words slow, letting the boy understand what he was saying as he had let the picture leaning onto his feet to make the words with his now unoccupied hands,

Kenta loved that he was an airbender. The element was so smooth and free and relaxing and they rarely fought. The air nomads were peaceful people and they were taught from a young age to not attack an unarmed opponent. Some refused fighting entirely. Kenta loved the peaceful nature of his people and how it allowed him to do whatever he wanted! Which included almost dieing while falling from a balcony.

Normally he was able to catch himself without much issue, but his glider had gotten stuck on the descent and he had almost become scattered pieces of himself all over the landscape below. Luckily, he had managed to catch himself before that had happened and landed on the balcony once more to be met almost instantly with another airbender around his age. He didn't completely recognize the kid, but he looked vaguely familiar.

The other boy ran in the opposite direction of Kenta, as if frightened or suddenly remembering something. Apparently it was the latter because he returned holding what appeared to be a large piece of paper spread handily around a wooden frame. Kenta wasn't well versed in art and painting so he didn't know it was a canvas. He knew, though, that what was on it was a painting of the balcony and the back of another person's head.

His head.

He wasn't sure if he should be flattered or creeped out. "Uh, thanks. How long did that take?" It wasn't really a question out of interest in the art, but more out of curiosity to know how long the other boy had been standing behind him to be able to paint the whole thing. He knew airbenders were light on their feet, but Kenta hadn't ever missed anyone coming up behind him. Maybe he was losing his touch....

"It's good that you feel confident in yourself," Another voice spoke up from the long hallway that led up to the balcony. Roshen stepped up to the two boys, his face rather blank despite his relaxed demeanor. The young man was dressed in the traditional airbender robes, holding his staff in his left hand. He had been watching both of them, primarily Kenta with his crazy ideas of falling off of the balcony, but he wasn't worried. The monks taught all of them well in the ways of airbending. In fact, Roshen was getting so close to earning his tattoos but he wasn't quite there yet. Maybe one day...

Shifting his weight, he watched the two boys for a minute, slightly curious to know what William was holding in his hand, but he didn't bother to ask. "I hope both of you are being careful."

William fetched the painting from the canvas and only then realized the slight tremor the made his hands shake. He was pretty surprised by that, he usually had a clear head and didn't really lose his cold air, but maybe he was just nervous about the painting, he couldn't tell.

The other voice startled him, and he whipped around, raising both of his hand and send a surge of wind around him, the air blowing loudly around his tiny frame and through his solid black hair, making it shift around his pale face, showing his eyepath and his pink eye.

Kenta wasn't a very observant person when it came to others body language. He didn't notice the other boy shaking, just that he had a painting and said it was Kenta. Before he got his answer to the question, however, someone else joined them. He was defintely an adult, but instead of scolding Kenta for being reckless - like they always did - he complimented him on being confident.

Confident didn't even begin to describe Kenta. The boy, though unaware of this, was reckless and careless. Sure, he trusted himself to save his life and was more than confident enough to accomplish it, but if he kept this up, he was eventually going to get himself killed. But if he matured and fixed this characteristic, perhaps he would live to an old age. Smirking at the new person to show up he straightened into a crisscross position, his breathing now even and his expression no longer confused from the boy before him.

As usual, Kenta hadn't even noticed the shocked air whipping around the other boy. He really hadn't thought much of other boy and now that there was an adult who understood what he did, he was focused more on him. "Please, I never do anything unless I'm perfectly sure I can accomplish it." He responded with the smirk still plastered to his face. He was a cocky little boy and honestly could get a good scolding from any sane adult if he continued speaking that way.
